If you need help

Dorothy Day Hospitality House provides the following services (all at 11 Spring Street in Danbury unless noted):

  • Breakfast (Morning Glory Breakfast Program run by Catholic Charities) -- every day at 6:30am
  • Afternoon meal -- every day from 3:15pm to 4:45pm --  sandwich bags are also available
  • Shelter from the Cold --Winter months -- Nov 15-April 15 -- 6pm to 8:30pm -- At St James AME Church  45 William St -- for guests at Danbury shelters (Dorothy Day, Good Samaritan Mission, City Shelter) only
  • Shelter -- every night at 9pm -- guests leave at 6am -- maximum stay 30 days during summer months -- no children -- over 18 only.
Services are also available at Danbury City Shelter (41 New Street -- 203-796-1661) .

If you are homeless in the state of Connecticut, there is a program called Coordinated Access to help you get access to service.   You should call 211 to get an appointment with someone who can help you.

If you are homeless in the Danbury area,  Off the Streets can help you get into housing.   Please call 203-733-5880.   See for more information.   If you have a source of income (job or disability), you can get a place of your own.
